About South of Madi

"In the South, the breeze blows softer... neighbors are friendlier, nosier, and more talkative. (By contrast with the Yankee, the Southerner never uses one word when ten or twenty will do).  This is a different place.  Our way of thinking is different, as are our ways of seeing, laughing, singing, eating, meeting and parting.  Our walk is different, as the old song goes, our talk and our names.  Nothing about us is quite the same as in the country to the north and west.  What we carry in our memories is different, too and that may explain everything else." - unknown

Welcome to South of MaDi!  I want to offer you a site where I can share with you what I love about our culture (south of the Mason-Dixon, that is) and the people who define the objects, places, and communities that enhance our everyday lives.

My background is a degree in Interior Architectue with a Concentration in Historic Preservation.  I have 5+ years in Commerical Architecture + Interiors as well as Residential Design.  I intend on offering tips on products and ideas for your living, home + office environments and great finds; albeit vintage or new.  Supporting local businesses is a vital part of our communities and I will write up on local retail, artists, entrepreneurs, restaurants that I come across and enjoy sharing about.  I hope to write about a few great local people and groups that I feel need to be acknowledged for their comaraderie and influence in each other's lives.  The art of sharing and fellowship is what unites us regardless of where we stand in race, sex, religion or politics.

Thank you for stopping by and soaking up what the South of MaDi has to offer!
